I'm tired, yes I am!

Admit it, you are tired.

No, really I'm okay, I just need to have a little nap and then I'll be fine.

Ah, come on, I'm telling you, you're tired!

No, I just have a few more things to do and fit in my 20K run on Sunday, I'm okay....really!

HAHAHAHAA, a 20K run, ya, right, like I'm NOT going to let you do it, just wait and see! Come Sunday, you'll be toast, TOAST I SAY! Just see if I let you run me into the ground....you'll be lucky to get 12K done...trust me.

And so, this is how the conversation went all week long between my body and my head.

Well, this time, Body Blue won the battle...all along she was right, no 20K for this Chickie today...I truly was struggling to get my 12K done. The entire week slipped by without a run. It was the usual busy, busy at work, which left me with absolutely NO energy when I got home from work.

I would make dinner and then head to bed at 7:30PM, what's up with that? Not one, no, not two days in a row....but everyday this past week and Saturday was spent sleeping on the couch all afternoon. This is just not "the real me".

Today's run was slow and it was a struggle trying to catch my breath. Plus I had a hard time trying to keep my cadence all the while being 30 seconds slower than my regular slow pace. Not good, but I got at least 12K in.

This coming week I will have to be a little more disciplined, there are only two weeks before the first of two half marathons. No goofing around now, I'll be spending time at the gym if the weather is rainy or cool....I can definitely tell the end of running season is getting closer!

Life's fun if you don't weaken,

Lily

Some times there just days and weeks like that. If you need the rest, you need the rest.

I didn't run at all this past week either. I have a run scheduled for tomorrow. I have a feeling it's going to suck hardcore...that is if I even get around to doing it. I too am a busy bee.

Way to go for getting in the 12K. Good luck for the coming week too. I know you can do it, coach! :)

You've had a busy year, and with the triathlon last week, that added just that much more to your plate. I've been pretty tired myself for the past week and I know its from the busy month of August. With cooler weather, hopefully that helps.

Sometimes our bodies just need a break. Totally ok.

It's ok to rest if you need. :)

What do you mean the end of the season? Season doesn't end until at least end of November.

Sometimes you just gotta listen to the body..

Listen to your body carefully... I think it is screaming for some rest. It's amazing what your mind is capable of your body. It is not a crime to scale back and get a little breather. It's the momentum. It will swing back and you will be roaring right back in time.

You listened to your body which is what matters, I am ready for a breaky poo myself, but not until after Philly.

good for you for taking the rest. I should have had Pat pick you up and take you to Le Nordik with her!

Check your iron levels just in case.

Have a good week! (-:

Yeah...there's a lot of that (tired and weeks that are too busy) going on.

No worries...we've got a whole new week in front of us.

I had a whole week of feeling tired last week. It happens. I'm sure that you will have a good week. :-)

It seems like tiredness is a running theme on many running blogs. Perhaps it's the change in the weather that is affecting us all? Good luck on your runs this week!

Rest and recovery is as important as all the other stuff put together. Smart move. You will be recharged and ready to go soon.

I need to listen to my body more, I have a tendency to ignore what my body is speaking and pay the dire consequences later.

I just love those conversations.....

the mind is so damn stubborn and thats why the body keeps coming back.

the mind is the pusher and the body is the junkie.....

You definitely made the right call letting the body win, especially with not one but TWO half mary's coming up.

Hope you're feeling more like yourself this week!

I thought only Marcy went to bed that early. :-)

Sometimes it's just best to do what your body needs. And you needed rest.

Rest up, Scotia is around the corner. Hopefully we'll get to meet up!

Good thing you listened to what your body was telling you! If you ignore it it will just come back with a louder message - and something worse than just being tired. Enjoy your R&R! You'll feel renewed motivation to run after a little time off.
