Three Things Thursday

My blogging and time on Facebook has gone by the wayside lately.  I'm back training and spending more time than ever before in the saddle, yes, I am still running but not as much since I don't have any "long" runs scheduled this year.

  • This weekend I'll be heading down to Kingston visit with my friend. I wasn't able to get there last weekend due to a miserable cold I picked up (again). I've been asked by family to come down and discuss some critical life decisions. Since I've been close to the family since I was 18 years old and am considered "family", my input, although it will not be a determining factor, will be considered since I do know how my friend would like to live or in this case die. She will hopefully know that I am there when I go to see her on Sunday. Levels of consciousness are now becoming vague and more often than not, she does not respond. Although she will sometime squeeze your hand if you ask her if she is in pain. I will be looking to the Great Above for guidance.  Please God show me the way and give me the strength I need to have so I don’t become a blithering idiot when I’m visiting.

  • My neighbour dropped over the other day to ask me when I was going to rake up the leaves that are still plasterd to my lawn.  Apparently there has been great discussions about the state of my property this spring...HELLO?  Excuse me, the snow melted ~ what 72 hours ago!!  Do I come over to your house and ask when you are going to clean up the pigstye you have IN your house?  NO!!!  Nuff said.....

  • Our weather has been stellar and dispite being sick (since October), I have been out for some pretty spectacular bike rides.  It has been windy, windy, windy but still nice nonetheless.  It feels great to have the sun on my face and bugs in my teeth.  I'm finding that cycling is even strengthening my knee.  Even though I still haven't had my Shimano RT80 shoes fitted for the clipless pedals yet (tomorrow, I promise, along with getting a computer and some bag accessories).  I've been using my shoes and can already feel a difference, however, one of the screws fell out of one of the clips so now I'll need to buy some spares.  I never knew that would happen.  I'm such a newbie...I even found a twelve week training schedule that I'm close to following for the RLCT, can you believe that in twelve weeks I'll be riding a double century.  Yup, 100k on the Saturday and cycling back on the Sunday....Yea ME!!!

Life's fun if you don't weaken,

Lily

*the swag bags from yesterdays Wordless Wednesday were from our 1st Annual Wooo Hooo Winter Tri, I PROMISE  to post about that soon!

tell your neighbor you are mulching the leaves.
I can only wish you strength this sunday. in a strange and twisted sort of way you are lucky that you will have a chance to say good bye to your friend and help her family with difficult decisions. most of the time we don't get that opportunity.
hugs and warm thoughts.

Wishing you strength this weekend. It won't be easy. {hugs}

Tell your neighbour(s) to shove it. Jeez!

Awesome that you're putting in so many miles on the bike. The weather has been great for it!

I don't envy you your upcoming trip, but I do believe you'll help the family make the best decision[s] for your friend.

Good luck with your visit this weekend. Somehow I'm sure the right things will be said when the time comes.

Glad you were able to get out for some bike rides!!

I'll be thinking of you this Sunday...you will bring such comfort to her family with your presence and input. Of course you will blither, but you will never be an idiot...

As for your neighbor, unfreakingbelievable...some people sure have very little going on with their lives. Geez!!

You could have handed him a rake and told him you were just waiting for him to stop over and volunteer!

Laurel, best of luck finding the strength. It is so hard... When my aunt was ill with lung cancer I had very strong conflicting emotions on seeing her...even going to her funeral as I didn't want to remember her that way. But I know your friend will appreciate your company and you being there for her.

Wow, those neighbours need to not worry about the leaves so much!

Comment on Point 1. So sorry to hear about your friend, those are such tough times, and really brings our focus back to what really matters in life.
Comment on Point 2. GOOD GRIEF, neighbor really needs to get a life.
Comment on Point 3 As Aerosmith would say, "back in the saddle again" I was once a runner too, knee surgery said nope, no more. Now I can ride a bike as much as I desire. :-)

WTF with the neighbours. They're just lucky there isn't snow on the ground like last year at this time. AND FURTHER more,,, you live in the country in the middle of nowhere for a reason... geez some people need to get a life. Would you like me to tell them? cuz I would and could ya know! Tell them to go back to the city where lawn monitoring is a sport in the burbs.

sorry about your friend. You'll know what to do when you get there. You'll have the guidance you need.

HUGS

Sorry about your friend.
I don't have a neighbour so nobody can stress me for the leaves (perhaps only my wife, but this is another story).

Some people clearly have too much time on their hands...GAH!

I'm so sorry about your friend. I have no doubt that "blithering idiot" is the last thing you'll be. My prayers will be with you.

You neighbor needs to take a massive chill pill. It's not like you have a half dozen rusty car shells and a public urinal out there. Twits.

Miss you, but would rather you are happy and out enjoying life. Take care!
