Through no fault of its own...

The Shirt that Races did not race!!

So, I'll fill you in on why;
The Shirt that Races arrived mid week from Nikki, who lives out in Langley, British Columbia (thank you Nikki)!!

I was so excited that it was here and in time for my 5K race, **The Richmond Road Race. After battling the freezing cold temperatures all of last week, we could only hope that Mother Nature would take it upon herself to grant us, at least on race day, milder temperatures.

Sunday dawned to snow, snow and more snow and yes, a little warmer temps. Although it was still cold out I started to layer up for the race and tried on the Shirt that Races.
Well, lets put it this way, I did take a picture, but it will never be posted, in fact it has been deleted from my camera, but it went something like this...

My (Anna Nicol at her heaviest), body just didn't fit the little shirt that is travelling across North America!!!

Now, Sports Fans, I'm considered *Rubenesque, and "the girls" just didn't fit the shirt!!! Needless to say, the shirt was not going to be seen in public nor would it be comfortable to be worn under any of the other layers of long underwear!

I almost considered asking one of the other Wooo Hooo's to wear it, but they were all ready to line up for their 10K race when I arrived in Richmond. So, although the little shirt made to the race, it, truth be told did not race.

I HAVE FAILED the Shirt.....
I do not feel worthy to sign the shirt nor document my race time (32:41), help, I need guidance on this!! Do I? or Don't I???

Help....

Life's fun if you don't weaken,

Lily

*yes, I'm tall and of large stature and yes, most of you are little peeps....

**the race report to follow

I am rubenesque as well. Trying to fit my girls into most shirts is a challenge. That's why I very rarely wear button-up dress shirts.

Aw, sorry it didn't work out. :(

Congrats on the race, though! Can't wait for the report!

Rule 17.2b - If said traveling shirt is physically in attendance at any racing event, regardless of being donned by a participant, the feat is accomplished. Since we all come in many shapes and sizes, this rule circumvents any previously stated rule.

I wish I had that problem. Dayum I could use some extra hooters LOL

Tough one, for sure. The race was not along for the ride, so technically it did not race. However, your efforts to get the shirt to the finish line should be recognized. I say sign it, since it adds to the shirt's history and that is the real point in the end.

The "shirt" was not along for the ride... What's up with my fingers? Brain?

Sign the shirt!

You did not fail the shirt...

Yesterday was a hard slog here. The snow really didn't help and I actually gave up on my 6 miler.

You didn't fail the shirt. I'm sure it was there in spirit at the race. Sign it!

i say sign it too... and you didn't fail the shirt. Great job getting out there after a brutally cold week. Hope it's warming up slightly.

I whole heartedly agree! I especially like Coach Ken comments.. the feat was accomplished with or without the shirt so sign it and send it along. Definately!

As an independent arbiter, I must concur with TNTCoach Ken's interpretation of the rules. As a result, the ruling on the field stands - the shirt raced so sign it and be happy.

Yes, I would say sign it, but maybe not it was too small to wear :-)

as the none running totally independent judge on this one I say...
technically the shirt did run if you had it attached to you somehow.

You didn't fail the shirt... the shirt failed you.

Sign the shirt put in the race time and pass er along!

I'm with mary... share the hoots!

LOL at the girls not fitting in the shirt. For future "girls" maybe the shirt could double as a headband?

Clearly you have done an excellent job of troubleshooting this issue for the rest of us.

Absolutely you must sign the shirt...you have become part of its inevitable lore...

Aw I'm sorry it didn't race but I still think it counts! Great job still getting out there though despite cold and snow!

My vote goes to signing the shirt and sending it along its merry way!

Good job getting out to race in that weather and coming through with a fine time!

Commish TNT and the others are exactly right in citing little known Rule 17.2b of the Shirt Rule book and the common law principles of big boobies.

The Justice of the Shirts.

Don't feel bad Lily, it for sure wouldn't have fit me either...that doesn't mean we can't run, does it?

You know, you just improvise in these situations. Use it for a nose blowing hanky or something but take it along! Its the adventure that counts!

Laurel I LOVE YOU! The only reason I did not try to join that is due to I the fact that i could not fit into it. it was not the girls that made it a tight squeeze it was that darn large heart of your muah!
