Trying to stay (get) motivated

MONDAY

SUNNY, WIND WEST AT 20 KM PER HOUR

BECOMING LIGHT IN THE MORNING.

HIGH MINUS 13 DEGREES CELSIUS (8.6F)

WIND CHILL MINUS 30 (-22F) IN THE MORNING.

(OUCH!)

Trust me, I am NOT winter person! Just listening to the wind howl yesterday in blizzard like conditions in the morning, there really wasn't even a fleeting chance that I'd be going into town to run...let alone run at home.

Nope, no way, can't make me, don't wanna, nada...I'm not running!

Saturday was the 5K Santa Shuffle which a few of the hardier Wooo Hooo's ran, but nope, I opted not to run as I had my other business partying happening on Saturday afternoon. How fantastic to find out that I'd be amongst over seven marathoner's, a couple of triathlete's and a young lady who is just starting to run...yes, those were just some of the ladies at the home party, now that was amazing.

Sunday dawned to bear witness to absolute whiteouts and cold, cold winds. Have I mentioned how much I hate winter?

Well, I'm going to have to get some motivation soon, I have a 10K run on New Year's Eve, which will be followed right afterwards by a Murder Mystery Pot Luck Dinner....too much fun! I already know my character....yes, Tiffany the Flight Attendant...gah, now I have to dig around to find my Wings and carry on luggage (yes, I still have most of it!).... but trust me, the original uniform is looonnnggg gone!

Following the New Year's Eve race, I have a quick (I hope) 5K Richmond Road Race, it is usually fffffffreezing that day, but we always get together afterwards to warm up with some adult BEvERages and food....then the Hypothermic Half Marathon....(have I mentioned I hate winter?)...

Marathon training starts shortly afterwards...so suck it up Chickie, you have to get your sorry ass out the door and get acclimatised to this gawd awful weather!

It's a mad house at work lately, as I always say, I'm trying to fit 20 pounds of shiz into a 5 pound bag...so, I'd better get back to work.

Thanks to those who sent me the thoughtful emails, checking to make sure I'm okay...yes, I am, I'm fine, and I do truly appreciate your concern.

Life's fun if you don't weaken,

Lily

Heyy! It's just as cold down here!!! I guess that's the best way to stay motivated, huh? Having the races lined up so you HAVE to get out and run!? :)

You'll adapt! I think thats why spring marathons are so sweet:)

You have a lot of winter races on the books for someone who doesn't like winter. ;)

At least it will keep you moving. STAY WARM!

You're Canadian. How can you hate winter?! ;)

That Murder Mystery Pot Luck sounds like so much fun! Definitely want a report on that. And the race too, of course. :)

I'll send you a picture of the sun! Ha, only ten more months of winter for you......

For someone who hates winter, you sure live in the darndest of places for it. You either need to fall in love with a treadmill or you need to move down here.

It was 70 degrees here yesterday in case you are wondering. ;-)

If you need to see the sunshine, look in the mirror girlie...you're there.

Wind chill -30? I couldn't do it either. Fingers crossed the weather cooperates for some good running weather!

I hear you Lily. Hang in there. It was 0 degrees F here with the wind chill yesterday, and you couldn't have PAID me to run outside.

I feel your pain (literally). I managed my long run in the dome this week and let me just say that doing 100+ laps is not that thrilling. Good for you for staying determined!

We are close to Dec 21 and then the days get longer. Does Ottawa have an indoor track? I find that really helps on extra cold days, or just cross train at the gym.

Ooooooo I've always wanted to do a Murder Mystery party! How much fun is that?

I don't know how you girls/guys do it up North. It's INSANE. But you're a hardcore mommacita! You'll find a way to get it done ;-)

Oh, I have a hard time with the motivation in winter and our winter is like a mild fall day compared to yours. Try to stay motivated, I will be off to find the theif who is trying to steal our mojo!

The murder mystery sounds like a beyond fun time!!!

I so feel for you. I couldn't do it either. Cold and Groover just don't go together. Give me a hot muggy humid 35C day any day but minus degrees suck big time. You are doing exceptionally well in my books.

I wouldn't be motivated if I was facing that kind of weather either.

Here's to a short winter!

I ran on Sunday morning in the wind and the dropping temperatures... not fun. Ran is a bit of an overstatement. More of a walk rather than get knocked over by the wind... I can't even post about it.

Today... not a chance.

Oh Lily I hate winter too!! You are such an inspiration to get out in those brutal conditions. I can't even IMAGINE what it must be like to have that kind of cold.

Your race schedule sounds awesome!! Looking forward to the racing reports.

Golf, cycling, running, rowing, all possible in cold weather, all better in cool dry conditions. Well except for the rowing. This is why I would never consider a spring marathon. I now I'm not going to train properly till the snow and ice are off the roads.

I'll see you Wednesday night .... 7 hills. Be there!

For someone that doesn't like winter, you sure have picked a good location to live - and to run races in it. silly. Messin' with ya.... You are one strong woman - to be running in that kind of cold. I'm such a wimp.

Oooh, are you going to dress the part for the Mystery Pot luck dinner?!?! That would be so funny!

I am loving winter, but winter here is TOTALLY different than your winter. That's just crazy! 8 degrees for a HIGH?!?! Yikes!

Sounds like you have quite a few races lined up for someone who hates winter so much! I hope you have your winter gear all ready.
