Looking for my MoJo

Granted, I ran my butt off this past year, but that is no excuse to be so immobile at the moment. I just haven't had the inspiration to get out the door to run. Where has my mojo gone?

The past few days have been spent in a dusty basement cleaning out "stuff" and taking it to the Salvation Army and what didn't make it there is going out today into the garbage and re-cycle boxes. The weather has been crazy, very warm and very windy....we lost power for a little while yesterday due to the winds. My Sunday afternoon was spent chipping melting ice off of my decks and making a trough in my driveway so the melting ice could drain away onto the slushy street. It was great to be outside, my dust filled lungs and sinuses appreciated the break!

So, back to running, or lack there of, HELP!

I need to find some motivation and right now moving to Hawaii seems like a good idea, but it is highly unlikely.

Today is going to be a get back at it day. My alarm went off at the usual workday Monday time of 5:30am, so no excuse, I'm still on holidays so I'm going to suit up and take out the garbage and wander down the road. I may not run (yet), but a good walk in the fresh air will help me A LOT!

I have another dump run to the Salvation Army today so I'm throwing my gym bag into the car and I'll go and work out for a little while...at least it's a start.

Life's fun if you don't weaken,

Lily

Good job getting out there. You'll feel better when you do.

i agree with Marlene, once you get out there once, you'll remember why you enjoyed it in the first place. Sounds like a productive weekend anyway :)

I'm guessing your mojo is buried under a snowpile out there somewhere. You'll find it. :-)

Get a race on your schedule-whatever it may be...that will help. You're always welcome in Kansas.

I agree with Kim, sign up for a race. There's Chilly Half or Grimbsy half in Feb/March. I love the look of your blog!!

Winter bites, but Spring will return soon, just like your Mojo will.

Even though it's warm(er), it's been bad for outdoor running. The freezing rain on Christmas Eve..
I haven't been able to get my ass out the door since Christmas either.

Resolution Run is going to be humbling.
I don't even want to think about hypothermic.

I just posted about cleaning my apartment and came straight to your blog and felt a little deja vu! With all the cleaning and de-icing it sounds like you've still been pretty active without running. Good luck getting back into the running groove!

Sometimes our instincts are better than our ideas. We think we need to run, but the urge isn't there because the body knows it needs a little extra rest. I've been walking more lately, too. It's my way of being active while giving my body a chance to recover between runs. Perhaps while you are out walking, your Mojo will return.

I just saw that you are saving for Honolulu 2009. We plan to be there as well. I'd love to meet you while we are there!

Maybe you packed your MoJo in one of the boxes for the Salvation Army? It gets tough this time of year, so you aren't alone. My favorite motivation is when the sun makes a cameo appearance, then I have to get out and run.

I found my mojo recently. I think I may have seen yours, too. I'm sending it over :)

One good run might just do it..a little jump start.

I think you are doing the right thing. Little baby steps if it all feels too hard. A little walk, no pressure, take the gym bag just in case ... and before you know it you'll be in full swing again. How many times have I gone out on my bike just for an easy spin as I couldn't face the pain of the workout ... and ended up doing all the training program required and then some more ... :-) Good luck, Laurel! You can do it!

The winter is soo difficult, darker and shorter days, cold cold cold and snow and ice for you....I like what coach Ken said..when the sun makes a cameo ...get out and run/walk. The sun almost always perks me up. Anyway, I agree with some other comments...mojo must be buried under snow :-} Hang in there Lily!!

Goo dluck finding your mojo! If I were you, I think Hawaii is a most viable option.

I am in the same situation, so I am unable to help you. If you find the answer though, help me out! :)

Happy New Year, coach!

I'd pack up and go to Hawaii. David peaked my interest in moving there the other day, when he said a friend of his knew of a good job opening for him there. For a sec, I was like "yeah".

I've been taking crap to Goodwill too.

Good luck with finding your mojo. I think we all go through those times. You'll find it. You were meant to run, girl!

I am just an arm chair QB right now. Get out and run! I say this as I am wrapped up in a blanket surfing....

If you find your Mojo, send some my way. ha!

Oh you've got to stop cleaning. I find that I'm never motivated to do anything else if I'm cleaning.

We need warmer climates :-). Happy new year!

Lily, Happy New Year and here's to finding your running mojo real soon! As for cleaning out stuff I am on the same page; (almost) nothing that hasn't been used in a year or so is worth keeping around.

Not sure how the weather has been out your way, but if it is anything like out west then I totally wouldn't blame you for a lack of mojo!
