Three Things Thursday

Life sure has its ups and downs, my friend who was air lifted from Florida last week has been given less than three months to live, her brain tumor is very aggressive and has grown 5cm within four days...Saturday will be her 80th birthday and knowing that she has lived an extremely long and adventurous life doesn't make it any easier, but I know she wouldn't want to linger incapacitated and in pain.

  • Our 1st Annual Winter Wooo Hooo Tri was an absolute scream!  Complete with swag bags, personalised team bibs and a whole lot of laughter.  Although trying to get this many women together on a particular day is like herding cats, we did it and had a blast.  The weather couldn't have been better and yes, we did have enough snow to snowshoe and crosscountry ski.  (report and photo's will be coming).

  • Why is it that the guys in this office insist on coming to work when they are sneezing, coughing AND throwing up???  What's with that??  Needless to say, I'm sick again because they come to my desk looking for sympathy, all the while sneezing, blowing their nose and throwing their tissues into MY wastebasket, telling me to stay away from them because they are contagious - trust me I'm not your mother nor your wife, you won't get sympathy from me ~ GO HOME!!

  • The weather has been absolutely gorgeous and uncharacteristic for this time of year, so I have been taking advantage of it and getting out on the bike.  I haven't had the opportunity to get my clipless pedals adjusted to my shoes yet, so I'm still a "clip virgin".  Luckily I wasn't clipped in the other day.  I went out cycling with my neighbour who I'm going to do the MS Bike Tour with in August.  We had a super ride and as we were heading home, her front tire went off the pavement onto the shoulder of the road, no big deal since she has hybrid tires, but she sort of panicked and tried to force her tire back onto the pavement, lost her balance and started to fall off. As she was hitting the pavement I jammed on my brakes and I couldn't head for the ditch nor the road, luckily I got stopped and didn't really run into her with any great force, however, as she tried to get up while we were still sort of tangled up she started to lift her bike up and scratched the front fork of Blizzard.   The good news is, neither one of us was injured (well other than her pride).   Ahhhh, the first crash of the season!
Life's fun if you don't weaken,

Lily

I don't like it when they come to the office sick either. Gah!

Now that you got that first crash of the season out of the way, you should be good to go!

Sorry about your friend. :-(

That's so sad chica. Many prayers her 80th is nothing less than epic!

Back in October there were like 3 people in my department with swine flu just walking around all scared of losing their job by taking a day off. Sure says a lot about our current economy...

def do not miss that aspect of working in an office. i used to hate that when my co-workers came in coughing and hacking. but who wants to use pto days for being sick? :)

Congrats on your successful tri! I had a head on collision with a six year old on Saturday. LOL... I'm glad he didn't get hurt too :-)

Sorry to hear about your friend...

Sounds like the winter tri went superbly and I look forward the recap...you look great in the pic.

That is one advantage of having my private office...although I've had clients come to see me with colds. Not often though thank goodness.

Glad no one got hurt...we've been having such amazing weather...if I had a bike, it would be out :)

I sure understand the "Stay Home" statement.....I wish the hubby had have just "stayed away". I'm a clip virgin by choice....they scare me on with all the gravel I ride on.

They launched a PSA campaign here during the swine flu upheaval to shame those kinds of men into staying home while sick. It was cleverly done to make the sick person not just look selfish but stupid. Who can't work from home these days?!

Sick men... I suppose they're just looking for sympathy?

Sorry about the friend L. About your crash, like I've said before. There are only two types of cyclists, those that have hit the floor and those that are going to.

Sorry to hear about your friend. They might have been good years, but after 80 of them, it's hard to say goodbye. Hopefully, there's something on the other side.

Happy to hear your bike wreck was more Laurel and Hardy than 911.

Help me out a little if you can. I've got a great idea working and I need some members/traffic to get if off the ground. It's a site were writers create a novel while people read it. Readers get to be a part of the process and writers get some free advice and editing. read more at http://youpublish.webs.com
If you'd sign up (free) I'd really appreciate it. If it's not too much trouple, put the word out on your network. Thanks.
Now, get out there and bike (and forget that silly running stuff ;).

I usually only get sick in the office when I look at the pile of work on the desk! And the first scratch on your bike---aargh. You should be able to touch it up with model airplane paint, or perhaps more usefully for you, nail polish. The weather is so good these days I actually rode a racing bike in to work as my commuting bike is getting the ravages of 2 winters fixed.

I hope you and your friend can find peace. There is never a good time to say good bye, I don't care how old a person is. Somehow, no matter what is happening in our lives, all the moments are important and valuable.
You are so right 'Life is fun if you don't weaken'
Hugs.
